BIOGRAPHY
Stephanie Horowitz is a dynamic soprano who is gaining popularity for her unique style, theatricality, and extreme versatility.Noted operatic appearances include the title role in Princess Ida, Marguerite (Faust), the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Mrs. Fezziwig in the New York City premier of Scrooge and Gilbert and Sullivan with the Village Light Opera Group (pictured), and Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi.) Ms. Horowitz has also covered major roles such as Anezka (The Two Widows), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), and Mrs. Which in Libby Larsen’s A Wrinkle in Time. She has been a guest soloist with the Northwinds Symphonic Band as well as the 92nd St. Y in Manhattan. She is currently the Cantorial Soloist at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation in Cape Cod, MA, as well as a singer for 2 churches and 1 synagogue in the New York metro area.
Active in musical theatre, Ms. Horowitz is the 2005 winner of the Five Towns Music & Art Foundation’s Young Artist Competition in the Musical Theatre Division. Favorite musical theatre roles include Trina (Falsettos), Frenchie (Cabaret), Emma Goldman/Housewife (Assassins), Anita (West Side Story), Gilmer (Godspell), and Connie (Good News). Ms. Horowitz has been featured in Cabaret clubs such as the Duplex, the Metropolitan Room, and Piano's Bar & Grill in Bloomfield, NJ as well as venues such as the Joriah Studios, Allegria Hotel and Seasons 52 Restaurant in Garden City, NY. She is a reoccurring member of the Huntington Cabaret and The Cranky Cabaret. An avid lover of vocal jazz, she sings for the South Shore Syncopators, NY's premier 1920's and 1930's dance orchestra. She is quoted as having "...great chops" and "lots of control" by famed Jazz performer John Hendricks of Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross.
Stephanie Horowitz is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of music in Boston, MA where she received a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance. For her studies there, she was awarded the Wayne Newton Music Scholarship. As a member of N.E.C.’s Opera Studio, Ms. Horowitz sang the role of Noemie in Massenet’s Cendrillon of which the Boston Globe reviewed: “Stephanie Horowitz…had fun as the wicked stepsister[s], twirling…pearls, eating chocolates, and checking…teeth for lipstick stains.” She also participated in the opera program’s semi-annual Opera Scenes Programs. Ms. Horowitz earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and her Teaching Certification from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music.
A native of Long Island, NY, Stephanie is currently a private voice teacher in Merrick and Manhattan, NY. She currently studies with Sherry Overholt and Mary Saunders-Barton
